Gale walked to the school yard not sure what to do. He was starting to regret he decided to come to school. The maple syrup on toast got his energy up but he didn't know how long that would last. His sleepiness from not being able to sleep though the night was starting to come back.

When he got up today he put on a plain black T-shirt with a pair of worn out jeans. The moist from the early morning air was getting to his jeans, which in turn made him uncomfortable. At least the dark color of his T-shirt collected enough heat to distribute to his upper body. One thing was sure, it was awkward to have a comfortable half and then an uncomfortable half.

One bad thing that happened was that a bird flew over his head and, almost, got its waste on him. It felt like all birds he hated him. It started with a parrot at a pet store. He was close to losing his finger then to. Ever since then he got bird shit on him four times, got pecked for walking to close to a nest (accidentally of course). It was just a curse.

He walked over to the closest bench, which was actually farther away then he looked. He plopped down, dropping his bag down next to him. School didn't start for another fifteen minutes. He wasn't sure why he left early. Maybe it was because he had nothing to do back at the orphanage. He leaned back on the bench. It was one of the most uncomfortable he had ever sat on. But it was still better then standing.

Looking around he spotted a few other people but didn't call out or say anything. He was probably one of the most unsocial kids in the school. Also from here he wasn't able to tell who they were. He didn't want to get into a conversation with the wrong people anyway. Closing his chestnut brown eyes he hoped the cool breeze didn't make him go to sleep. It would be embarrassing.

Letting his black bangs fall in his eyes, he thought of something which would keep him up. To him that could be a good thing or a bad thing. He decided to go with the good thing, since it was the hard memory of his parents that woke him up early this morning in the first place. The thing that came to his mind was the cheap candy store, were he always had enough for one sweet.

Gavin trudged into the school yard and looked around, his first day back at this school. He hadn't known too many people when he was here before, and he was sure none of them remembered him. His head hung low, he had been sent back to school, one of the least favorite things in his life. The only upsides were making a few friends and getting out of the house for a while.

He was early, that much he could tell. He looked around him and noticed a young guy sitting on the bench, alone. Seeing as he didn't have much else to do before heading into the school, he decided to try and talk to the boy.

He walked over, his bookbag hanging heavily from his shoulder, he sat near the guy and let his bag slump to the ground in front of him. "Hey." he said nonchalantly, hoping just a tiny bit that the guy would talk, if he didn't, he would understand. He looked around him, taking the scene, a few kids were milling around the school yard, none of them were kids he remembered, it really didn't matter anyway. He thought about everything he'd been through for a moment, before roughly shoving it out.

Gale looked up when he saw Gavin sit down. He looked familiar, maybe from the orphanage or from school he didn't know. He usually talk to many people. He looked down at the ground, not sure what to say. It was his best bet to be quiet, though the slightly awkward silence didn't seem to go with him.

"Hello." he said flatly. There, another word out of him for the day. He could tell already from the day so far it was going to be on of his social days. That didn't mainly happen, but if he felt like talking he would.

Brushing the hair out of his eyes, again, he looked up. He could tell the other boy was around his own age. Seeing the haunted look in his eyes for a split second, as though remembering something then pushing it away he concluded he probably remembered seeing him in the orphanage. Looking away he stared blankly at the front doors for a moment thinking of the nightmare that made him get up early this morning. He shivered slightly and hoped no one else realized it.

Trying to get his mind off it he wondered what time it was. He wasn't going to sit out here waiting forever.

After shoving out the memories and other thoughts, he looked over at the guy as he said hello. He had seen him around somewhere, the location, he wasn't sure exactly. If he had me him before he couldn't remember his name. He could see that this guy wasn't much of a talker either, not too good if they were going to have a conversation. He looked at him for a moment, brushing a few strands of blond hair out of his eyes. "What's up?" he asked, looking at him for a moment. "I'm Gavin." he said softly, it was one of the biggest string of words he had used in a while, other than the conversation with Amy. She had gotten him to talk a bit more than usual.

He looked around him for a moment, watching a few kids here and there, a few stumbling sleepily over to meet friends. He thought about some of the friends he used to have, used to because when everyone found out about his father, all of his friends were stripped away from him. Parents were afraid of his father at that point, stripped him clean, no one to talk to, no one to pal around with anymore. He couldn't be 'normal.'
